Cambio de Hora en Marzo de 2024: Todo lo que debes saber

Como cada año, durante el 2024 va a haber dos cambios de hora en España, para pasar al horario de invierno a verano y otra para pasar del de verano al de invierno, dos cambios en los relojes que consisten en adelantar o atrasar una hora, una vez en marzo y otra vez en octubre.

Concretamente, el próximo 30 de marzo vamos a cambiar al horario de verano. Tal y como recoge el Instituto Geográfico Nacional (IGN), Se entiende por "periodo de hora de verano" la etapa del año durante el cual se adelanta la hora en sesenta minutos con respecto a la hora del resto del año, aunque realmente se trata de un periodo de primavera-verano.

Consecuencias económicas del cambio de hora en España

Tras la crisis del petróleo de 1973 se generalizó el denominado horario de verano como una forma de ganar horas de luz solar y ahorrar energía. Los primeros países de Europa que adoptaron este método fueron Italia y Malta y poco a poco fueron otros países los que se sumaron. En el año 2000 se hizo obligatorio el cambio de hora.

¿Qué efectos tiene cambiar la hora? ¿Conlleva algún ahorro energético o tiene algún impacto económico? Aunque la Comisión Europea calcula que el ahorro energético está entre el 0,1% y el 0,2% del consumo eléctrico anual, el Instituto para la Diversificación y Ahorro de la Energía (IDAE), por su parte, confirma a BYZness que no cuenta con datos disponibles al respecto.

Entonces, ¿Este cambio afecta a la economía? "Se puede afirmar -aunque no muy rotundamente- que no", apunta José Canseco. En este aspecto, tal y como informa el profesor, existen cifras muy dispares sobre el posible ahorro al realizar el cambio de hora, pero hoy no tiene ningún sentido: ni por la agricultura, ni por el precio de la luz por horas, ni por la eficiencia energética. "No tiene ningún impacto y es muy residual", ratifica.

"Sí es cierto que en función de cuál sea el cambio, te levantes y, si es de noche, aproveches la luz del sol al atardecer, pero al final esa luz que ahorras por la mañana lo gastas por la tarde o viceversa, por lo que no existe eficiencia energética si hacemos un cómputo del consumo en un día entero. En realidad estás desplazando un gasto o un ahorro", afirma Canseco. "Hoy en día el único beneficio que aporta el cambio horario es aprovechar las horas de luz natural, que no artificial", añade.

¿Qué opinan los ciudadanos del cambio de hora? 

En una encuesta publicada por La Vanguardia en 2023, la mayoría de los ciudadanos claramente cree que el cambio de hora no les resulta beneficioso, ni para su economía ni de forma general, como podemos ver reflejado en los resultados en el gráfico a continuación:

Otro estudio recogido por el CIS (Centro de Investigaciones Sociológicas) recoge además que un 67,1 por ciento de los españoles afirma que quiere "acabar con el cambio de hora", frente a un 22,2 por ciento que prefiere "seguir como hasta ahora", según la encuesta del CIS, realizada en marzo, sobre cuestiones de actualidad.
